Rooted in bravery and belonging, the Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy offers a profoundly positive approach to arts education that’s dedicated to cultivating talent, confidence, and creativity in every student.
Our EPIC Summer Camps give like-minded youth a chance to have fun, make lasting friendships, and build life-skills while learning about the exciting world of live theatre in a fun, safe and welcoming environment. Our experienced faculty is comprised of passionate Canadian industry professionals who are also accomplished educators dedicated to providing relevant knowledge and personalized guidance to help students take risks to reach their full potential.
Week 1
Dates: Monday, August 12 to Friday, August 16
Ages: 8 – 18
Location: Brian Orser Hall, Penetanguishene Memorial Community Centre (61 Maria Street, Penetanguishene)
Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Cost: $395 plus tax
Week 2
Dates: Monday, August 19 to Friday, August 23
Ages: 8 – 18

Musical Theatre Summer Camps
By studying material from age-appropriate musicals, performing arts participants gain fundamental training in singing, movement, improv, and scene work. They’ll become familiar with reading sheet music, creating character and learn how to enhance their sense of focus and stage presence. Other speciality workshops will include on-camera acting technique, stage combat, puppetry, and audition skills plus virtual mentor Q&A’s.

Dave Bennett on Thursday, August 22 at 9am.
Disney Casting Director, Dave Bennett
Dave Bennett became the Casting Director the Shanghai Disney Resort after a successful two-decade career as a talent agent. He represented actors for film, television and theatre, and directors, choreographers, music directors, writers, and composers for theatre.
In 1999, he opened a Manhattan talent office for a Canadian agency where he represented not only American talent but was also known for bringing the best of Canada to Broadway. He placed clients in supporting roles in TV and Film, and in leading/supporting roles in over three dozen Broadway and National Touring Companies including Book of Mormon, Chicago, Jersey Boys, Les Miz, Lion King, Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins, Once, Phantom of the Opera, Rent, and Wicked.
Dave has a degree from Queen’s University and is a proud graduate of the Broadway Commercial Theatre Institute’s “Producing for the Commercial Theatre Intensive Program” (NYC).

“Epic Youth Academy Summer 2024 Mentor, Broadway Star, KERRY BUTLER.”
ALL Summer Camp participants will be invited to attend a Virtual Q&A with
Kerry Butler on Wednesday, August 21 at 9am.
Kerry Butler, who has appeared in twelve Broadway shows, is best known for originating the roles of Barbara Maitland in Beetlejuice, Penny Pingleton in Hairspray, and Clio/Kira in Xanadu, the latter of which earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical.
Butler also originated the role of Belle in the Toronto production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, which she later performed on Broadway. Other Broadway credits include Eponine in Les Misérables, Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, Penny Pingleton in Hairspray, Sherrie in Rock of Ages, Marianne in Disaster! and Brenda in Catch Me If You Can. She is a mother of two, accomplished teacher, plant enthusiast, musical theatre geek, Disney nerd, and believer in the power of laughter and the magic of music to bring people together. Emma Reynolds
Emma Reynolds (she/her) is a Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy Alumni entering her fourth year of the Musical Theatre degree program at Sheridan College. She is a triple threat artist and multi-instrumentalist. Theatre credits include: Campbell in Bring It On, Urleen in Footloose (GBMTC), Annie, Olivier, Peter Pan: The Panto, Snow White: The Panto, Aladdin: The Panto, Cinderella: The Panto, and Jack and the Beanstalk: The Panto (Drayton Entertainment). When Emma is not performing you can find her spending time with her family, going on walks around her hometown and playing her guitar! Emma enjoys spreading kindness, positivity and loves to inspire young artist to follow their dreams and fall in love with musical theatre!
Kaleigh Murphy
Kaleigh Murphy (she/they) is a performer, choreographer, and creator originally from Waterloo, ON, and currently based in Toronto, ON. They are a proud graduate of Sheridan College’s Music Theatre Performance Program. Some performance credits include Pinkalicious in Pinkalicious: The Musical (TYT Theatre), Berthe in Pippin (Theatre Sheridan), Clementine in Almost a Full Moon (CMTP Festival), and creating and starring in their first dance short film Collide produced by Unwrap Theatre.
Kaleigh got her start in musical theatre with Drayton Entertainment, participating in four shows as a children’s chorus member, and being a part of the inaugural year of the Youth Academy. She would not be where she is today without all that she learned through her opportunities at Drayton and she is so ecstatic to now be a part of that experience for the region’s incredibly talented youth!
In-Person Workshop Leaders
Eric DaCosta
Eric has been touring the world for the last four years in Hanna Moscovitch’s award-winning show, Old Stock. Previous credits include: Annie, Honk!, Snow White: the Panto, Peter Pan: the Panto (Drayton Entertainment); Key Change (Globe Theatre Regina); and Hollywood Hits (Stage West Calgary).

Family Discount: 10% discount for each additional member of the immediate family from the same household.
Multi Class Discount: 10% discount for each additional summer camp attended by the youth/teen.

Supervised drop off available at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up until 4:30 p.m.
